Elevated blood eosinophils (≥150 cells/µL), frequent exacerbations, oral steroid dependence, and evidence of type 2 inflammation such as FeNO, IgE, or aeroallergen sensitization help guide recognition. Comorbidities like eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis or obesity-related asthma may also be relevant.<br /><br />Targeting IL-5 with biologic therapy can reduce exacerbations, improve lung function, decrease steroid dependence, and lessen mucus plugging and airway inflammation. The speakers stress shared decision-making, patient education, safety discussions, and regular follow-up every three to six months to monitor response and adjust care.
