The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is rapidly growing. In this course, you’ll acquire cannulation skills that can be used to place patients on venovenous (VV) and venoarterial (VA) ECMO. You’ll also learn how to initiate ECMO after cannulation, placement of distal perfusion cannula, and suture techniques.

It is recommended to also attend the Management of Advanced Heart and Lung Failure With ECMO and Mechanical Circulatory Support course, held immediately preceding this course on April 11 to 12, 2024.
  • Placement of a venous ECMO cannula
  • Placement of an arterial ECMO cannula
  • Wet-to-wet connection between cannula and ECMO circuit
  • Placement of distal perfusion cannula
  • Suturing ECMO cannula
