This Master Course in critical care will use debates and panel discussions to provide an up-to-date review on critical care found in the literature. Faculty will openly discuss and share management plans on difficult clinical case scenarios that go beyond where any evidence exists. Topics highlighted will include resuscitation, ventilator management of acute respiratory failure, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), interpretation of ventilator waveforms, postcardiac arrest care, time limited trials of interventions, sedation and analgesia in the setting of substance abuse, and sepsis.

  1. Understand the different techniques to assess resuscitation of the critically ill patient.
  2. Learn how to interpret ventilator waveforms, and incorporate their interpretation into clinical practice.
  3. Be able to implement time-limited trials of therapies in critically ill patients.
