An increasing number of patients with chronic respiratory failure live at home or in subacute facilities, so it’s essential to develop expertise in the management of home mechanical ventilation. In this course, you’ll receive leading-edge updates on best practices for invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation and airway clearance, including strategies to mitigate recent Philips home respiratory care discontinuation.

Leaders in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine education will teach state-of-the-art techniques for managing home mechanical ventilators for patients with neuromuscular disease, obstructive lung disease, obesity hypoventilation, and other chronic hypoxemic/hypercapnic respiratory failure conditions such as respiratory failure due to COVID-19. Through hands-on simulations and live interactive discussions, you’ll learn how to manage common airway emergencies, home mechanical ventilators, mechanical airway clearance devices, and optimize team-based communication among clinicians.

Apply your new skills directly to your practice as you initiate long-term home mechanical ventilation for your patients.

  • Tracheostomy and airway management when caring for patients with prolonged mechanical ventilation
  • Strategies for addressing common clinical challenges and respiratory emergencies in patients with chronic ventilator dependence
  • Evaluation of advanced respiratory devices and their use with various disease states
Pre-work and materials will be available here approximately three weeks before the live course.
